10 days to Nepal.

Sophia speaking… and only 10 more days until lift-off!

One of the first things I am excited to visit in Nepal is the well-known “Monkey Temple” named Swayambhunath. This is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Nepal and dates back before the 5th century AD.

It also has monkeys living in a portion of it. The travel clinic reminds me not to feed the monkeys, as rabies vaccine is in short supply right now!

This temple stands at the top of a hill with a long staircase. Word on the web is it has 365 steps (or more?). Just for fun, here is a contemporary image of the stairway, and one from circa 1862-1865.
